LOS ANGELES - Hollywood legend Zsa Zsa Gabor underwent surgery to treat blood clotting on Friday and was resting comfortably after being rushed to a hospital earlier in the day following recent hip replacement surgery.

The Hungarian-born actress, who has been a fixture in Hollywood movies and on television for decades, was taken to the University of California Los Angeles medical center.

"She is resting and will be in the hospital for a few days, her publicist John Blanchette told Reuters.

Gabor, who has steadfastly refused to give her real age but is said to be well into her 90s, was partially paralyzed in a 2002 car accident. She fell out of bed on July 17, broke her hip and underwent surgery.

Her recovery has been difficult, and a speedy return home was delayed because of complications that followed the initial procedure. She returned to her Bel Air mansion on Wednesday, only to return to the hospital Friday with the blood clot.

A Canadian woman accused of attacking Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio with a broken beer bottle in 2005 has been given a restraining order.

Aretha Wilson, 40, attacked the star at a private party in Hollywood, resulting in him needing about a dozen stitches to his face and neck.

After fleeing to Canada, Ms Wilson was extradited to Los Angeles to face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

She was ordered to not to contact, or come within 500 yds (457m) of DiCaprio.

Ms Wilson is accused of sneaking into a party hosted by Paris Hilton's former boyfriend, Rick Salomon.

According to police, she mistook DiCaprio for an ex-boyfriend and attacked him with the bottle.

DiCaprio later filed a formal criminal complaint with authorities and a warrant was issued for Ms Wilson's arrest after she failed to report to a police station.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Hilleri G Merritt ordered Ms Wilson back to court on 11 August, where she will face the charges.

The judge also raised her bail from $60,000 (£38,000) to $150,000 (£95,000) stating concern about her "willingness and ability to come back to court".

The prosecutor said Ms Wilson was on probation for a previous offence in Canada at the time of the attack.

Mexican singer murdered after denying he was dead

Mexican singer Sergio Vega was murdered while on a national tour at the weekend, just hours after denying reports of his death, local media reported.

The 40-year-old singer, known as EL SHAKA , was driving his red Cadillac to a concert in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa on Saturday when his car was intercepted by unidentified shooters in a truck, reports said.

His murder came just hours after he told entertainment website La Oreja that online reports of his death were wrong.

"It's happened to me for years now, someone tells a radio station or a newspaper I've been killed, or suffered an accident," said Vega.

"And then I have to call my dear mum, who has heart trouble, to reassure her."

Fans posted condolences on Twitter after they learned of the death of the singer who recently boosted his security following the killing of several Mexican musicians.

Naomi Campbell may be subpoenaed by war crimes court

War crimes prosecutors in The Hague say supermodel Naomi Campbell should be subpoenaed to testify at the trial of Liberia's ex-President Charles Taylor.

They say Ms Campbell "was given rough diamonds" by Mr Taylor in 1997 at Nelson Mandela's house in South Africa.

Mr Taylor is accused of using "blood diamonds" to fuel an insurgency in Sierra Leone that cost tens of thousands of lives.

Ms Campbell had previously declined to provide testimony to prosecutors.

Ms Campbell's testimony is necessary as there is evidence that Ms Campbell was given rough diamonds by the accused (Mr Taylor) in September 1997," said a prosecution motion filed with the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Mia Farrow connection

Mr Taylor is accused of selling diamonds and buying weapons for Sierra Leone's Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels, who were notorious for hacking off the hands and legs of civilians during the brutal 1991-2001 civil war.

The trial heard claims in January that he had given Ms Campbell a "large" diamond after a 1997 dinner hosted by South African ex-President Nelson Mandela.

The former Liberian leader, who has been on trial since January 2008, dismissed the claims, calling them "total nonsense".

He has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity stemming from the 10-year war in Sierra Leone.

Earlier this month, Ms Campbell deflected a question about the diamond during an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

When asked about the gift, she said: "I don't want to be involved in this man's case. He has done some terrible things, and I don't want to put my family in danger."

The prosecution also wants US actress Mia Farrow - another guest at the Mandela dinner - to testify about the alleged gift.

According to Ms Farrow, Ms Campbell told her about the gift the following morning.

Ms Campbell said she had been visited by representatives of Mr Taylor during the night, and that they had given her a "huge" uncut diamond, Ms Farrow told ABC News last month.

"You don't forget when a girlfriend tells you she was given a huge diamond in the middle of the night," Ms Farrow told ABC.

She has told the court that she is willing to testify if needed.

Film and stage star Lynn Redgrave has died of breast cancer at the age of 67.

"Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven-year journey with breast cancer," her children said on Monday.

Her son Ben and daughters Pema and Annabel were with her when she died in Connecticut on Sunday, Redgrave's publicist Rick Miramontez said.

A member of the Redgrave acting dynasty, she is the third member of her family to die in the past year.

She was first treated for breast cancer in 2003.

"She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives," her children's statement read.

A private funeral is expected to be held later this week.

Peter Bowes gets a tour of the Promises centre

It is rare for a week to go by without news of a celebrity or sports star checking themselves into a rehabilitation centre.

Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Tiger Woods have all had their problems.

Whether it is alcohol, drugs or an uncontrollable compulsion to have sex, the addictions of high-profile people attract headlines and a level of treatment few others can afford.

Such is the fascination with showbiz stars and their issues that VH1's Celebrity Rehab has become a big hit.

The show, which features celebrities as they undergo treatment, has reportedly offered Lohan $1m (£652,000) to appear on its next series.

But most celebrities prefer to deal with their problems in private. Many check in to the Promises Treatment Centre in Malibu which offers residential treatment for the well-heeled.

Nestled in the hills above the affluent seaside town, the centre caters for the rich and famous as well as successful business people.

"We jealously guard the privacy of our clients," says Dr David Sack, the centre's chief operating officer.

"We want to ensure that they have the time and the opportunity to get better from their addictions without intrusions so we work very hard to make sure that we don't have our clients on TV or used in the media in any way."

Very relaxed

The centre's focus on privacy meant BBC News was unable to interview any of its current clients, although we spotted a major TV star in the dining room.

In the past, the secluded setting has proved enticing for the tabloid media.

"We have paparazzi who will walk two miles in on public land so that they can try to get a photograph over the mountains behind our buildings," says Dr Sack.

Britney Spears sought treatment at Promises when things got tough

"But you know most people try to respect other people's treatment."

It is an extremely relaxed setting, akin to a residential home for the elderly. There are no locks on the doors and the clients are free to leave at any time.

The atmosphere is homely with a comfortable living room area and a large family kitchen.

Celebrity clients are treated in exactly the same way as everyone else. They take part in group therapy sessions and help with the chores such as cooking and laundry.

But the underlying problems that result in Hollywood's elite seeking help, may be different.

"We think that success creates new pressures and demands on people that add to their anxiety and make them more susceptible to alcohol and other drugs," says Dr Sack.

Are Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz Calling it Quits?

Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz took separate vacations over the holidays, a sign that may indicate their longterm relationship may be coming to an end. Timberlake spent time at home in Tennessee while Diaz, his girlfriend since 2003, went skiing in Vail, Colorado, with her family.

Sources say Justin reportedly told friends in Memphis on December 23: "Me and Cameron? We're done."

Earlier reports suggest that over the years, while they overcame a nine-year-age difference, the couple struggled from time to time with the issue of long-term commitment.

Over the holidays Justin allegedly hung out with ex-girlfriend Veronica Finn at a nightclub, and told everyone of his split with Cameron.

On the other hand, Justin partied at New York hotspot Barca 18 with Diaz in mid-December and at the time, gossip mags reported that the couple was "affectionate and stayed until 4 a.m."

Carrie Underwood has two special guys in her life – her fiancé, Mike Fisher, and her dog, Ace — she shows off her pup during the Pedigree Adoption Drive held Tuesday at NYC’s Bideawee Manhattan Shelter.

The American Idol beauty, 27, announced her engagement to Ottawa Senators player Mike, 29, in December, and intends to wed this summer.

Although she is “working on” choosing a designer for her wedding dress, she has a few dream dress details in mind.

“It’s really pretty,” she says. “It’s in the very beginning stages, and it’s very ‘me.’ It’s girly, it’s pretty, it’s simple and glamorous.”

While Carrie contends Ace will be in the wedding, she’s not sure exactly where he’ll fit into the bridal party.

“He’s my kid,” she says. “It would be like if I was getting married and I had a child. Of course, my child would be in the wedding. Of course, Ace is going to be in the wedding. He’s such a big part of my life.”
