Mexican singer murdered after denying he was dead

Mexican singer Sergio Vega was murdered while on a national tour at the weekend, just hours after denying reports of his death, local media reported.

The 40-year-old singer, known as EL SHAKA , was driving his red Cadillac to a concert in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa on Saturday when his car was intercepted by unidentified shooters in a truck, reports said.

His murder came just hours after he told entertainment website La Oreja that online reports of his death were wrong.

"It's happened to me for years now, someone tells a radio station or a newspaper I've been killed, or suffered an accident," said Vega.

"And then I have to call my dear mum, who has heart trouble, to reassure her."

Fans posted condolences on Twitter after they learned of the death of the singer who recently boosted his security following the killing of several Mexican musicians.

Angelina Jolie Secret Trip To Haiti

Angelina Jolie - Actress and humanitarian, Jolie, isn't one of those celebrities who are only associated with a cause for the boost it gives their career.
Angelina Jolie is in it for the real dirty work of making some change.

According to the Associated Press, Angelina Jolie made a secret trip to Port au-Prince, Haiti for meetings with Haitian and UN officials. Serving as the goodwill ambassador for the U.N., Jolie has made multiple trips to Haiti, while Haitian officials were told not to mention Angelina Jolie's name during her visits to the island.

And Angelina Jolie's people have done an equally good job keeping her humanitarian missions quiet. In the past year alone, Angelina Jolie has visited Iraq, Thailand, Pakistan and other countries on behalf of the U.N.

Mariah Marks Milestone

Mariah Carey's debut single, "Vision of Love," entered the Billboard Hot 100, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Adult Contemporary charts 20 years ago this week, in the June 2, 1990, issue. The song would become the first of her 18 Hot 100 No. 1s, the most among solo artists in the chart's 52-year history. (Among all acts, only the Beatles, with 20, have more.) Carey has tallied 15 toppers on Hot Dance Club Songs, 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and six on Adult Contemporary.

Carey's total U.S. album sales stand at 64.5 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan, which began tracking album sales a year after her arrival. In that span, only Garth Brooks (68.4 million) and the Beatles (60.9 million) rank higher. Carey has six No. 1 Billboard 200 titles, including her best selling album, 1995's "Daydream" (7.6 million). "Daydream" also yielded the 16-week Hot 100 No. 1 "One Sweet Day," with Boyz II Men, marking the chart's longest reign. The ballad subsequently earned the honor of Billboard's top song of the '90s. Carey's 2005 14-week Hot 100 No. 1 "We Belong Together" likewise became the chart's top title of the 2000s.
